This exhibition invites you to experience a powerful tribute to one of our region’s most iconic cultural landmarks, the Toitoi Opera House.
In 2015, ten celebrated Hawke’s Bay artists were commissioned to create original works reflecting the spirit of each decade of the Opera House’s 100-year history. These vibrant artworks were reproduced to adorn the protective hoardings during the building’s major strengthening and refurbishment, turning a construction site into an outdoor gallery.
Now, in this special anniversary exhibition, eight of the original ten pieces will be on display, joined by a stunning new commission by celebrated artist Freeman White, “2015–2025”, generously supported by GEMCO. Together, these works span not just a century of performance and architecture, but also a decade of creative reflection.
