Keirunga Gardens

Puflett Road, Havelock North, Havelock North, Hawkes Bay

Keirunga Gardens is a large park in Havelock North, with 17 hectares of both formal gardens and parklands. With a large open space area perfect for picnicking and a children’s playground area, Keirunga Gardens has a lot to offer the community.

The gardens are home to Keirunga Homestead and the Keirunga Gardens Arts & Crafts Society, who are settled within the maintained gardens and courtyard and provide community facilities for arts and crafts in the Hastings District.

Off Tanner Street and lower Pufflett Road there is a large open picnic area, a natural woodland area and access to the park through ‘Crabapple Walk’. Running along the western side of the gardens, following the waterway, is Arthurs Path; an informal walkway set among a woodland of old oak trees.

Keirunga Gardens also includes the Keirunga Park Railway; an 846 metre mini-train track that winds its way around the park through tunnels and across bridges. The railway track is a fun outing for families and always popular with the younger family members! For more information on the railway, including photos, prices and opening hours, visit the Havelock North Live Steamers website at www.keirungaparkrailway.org.nz

This park is dog friendly but requires dogs to be on the lead unless within the designated ‘off-lead/exercise’ area at the southern boundary walkway of Keirunga Gardens on Tanner Street
