Joe Walsh Sunday

Springfield Rd, Napier

Rock legend and former Eagles guitarist Joe Walsh is returning to Ōtātara Pā in Hawke’s Bay where he had an epiphany that led him to break his addictions.
A public event on Sunday April 21, with entry by koha, includes 4 hours of entertainment. New Zealand Idol judge Frankie Stevens is MC for the event, which features Brannigan Kaa, Pereri King, EIT music students and Greenmeadows School's ukulele troupe The Ukettes. Walsh will perform and speak about his life and recovery from addiction. After his performance at the pā, his next gig will be with The Eagles in Manchester at the largest indoor arena in the United Kingdom.
It will be Walsh’s third pilgrimage to the site, which he first visited while touring in 1989.
The event is alcohol, drug and dog free.
Parking is at EIT, a short walk away. Kaumatua or anyone needing assistance can be dropped off at the Ōtātara Pā Historic Reserve car park, where a van will shuttle those that need it the short distance up the hill to the amphitheatre. There will be haangi, a sausage sizzle and a coffee cart.
In the event of unfavourable weather, the concert will be transferred to the nearby Te Uranga Waka EIT Otatara campus.
